Back left leg injury from dog bite
My dogs were rough housing and I believe my cat may have been injured by a bite from my dog on the lower back and left leg. My cat "Ralph" is hobbling around this morning and I can tell he's hurting. Is there something I can give him at home for pain? I do not have the funds to go to the vet and I'm worried.
There is nothing you can give your cat for the pain at home. Painkillers and over-the-counter treatments for human pain problems can be lethal to cats. All you can do to help make the injured area more comfortable is place a warm compress on the wound.
However, your cat should be examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Bite wounds can become infected very easily and could form an abscess. To help with financial constraints in times such as these, you may want to look into a program called Care Credit, which is a low- or no-interest payment plan for medical and veterinary expenses.
