Cat Flea Medicine

There are several types of cat flea medicine products on the market, but few are as thoroughly tested to be safe for cats as Frontline and Advantage flea control for cats. The following products are once-monthly applications to control fleas on cats and help treat cat flea allergy. These flea medicine options work more quickly and efficiently, and are much safer for home use than over-the-counter flea bath products, plus carry the additional benefit of providing cat flea control for an entire month.

Frontline Plus for Cats

Frontline Plus is a once-a-month cat flea medicine, killing 98-100% of adult fleas on your cat within 24 hours and continues to work for at least a month. It also kills flea eggs and larvae and all stages of 4 major ticks.

For years, I have been using Frontline Plus for Cats in my practice. As far as flea treatment goes, I have found it to be the safest, most effective way of controlling flea problems. Furthermore, for clients whose cats go outdoors, this product offers protection from ticks as well. Since disease-carrying ticks are rampant in the Northeast, I've always preferred this added benefit!

Recently, some have reported that Frontline isn't working for their favorite felines. While I have never found this to be the case after strong household cleaning practices and application of the cat flea medicine for three consecutive months, some prefer to try a different product. When it comes down to it, the only other flea product I would recommend using for any cat would be those made by Advantage.

Advantage for Small Cats

Once-a-month Advantage stops biting fleas in less than 5 minutes and kills at least 98% of fleas within 12 hours. Also kills flea larvae and chewing lice quickly. And, it continues killing them for at least a month.

For cats and kittens 8 weeks and older and weighing under 9lbs.

Advantage for Medium/Large Cats
