Cat Food Bowls

Cat food bowls are an essential cat supply item, but sadly, many people still view them as a luxury item. After all, why would you have to feed your cat in a bowl intended specifically for him or her instead of just using any old bowl in your home? Well, there are many reasons to take the plunge and invest in cat feeding bowls!

Travelling with your Cat? Check out Sleepypod's Yummy Travel Bowls!

Sleepypod's new Yummy Travel Bowls are the perfect travel accessory! This modern, convenient bowl allows you to easily transport and serve your kitty's food and water, without having to worry about mixing or spilling contents!

Each Yummy Travel Bowl set has a water bowl as the base, a food bowl that slips into the water bowl, and a lid that seals it all together, making everything spill-proof. The lid can become an extra bowl, too, making it possible to serve wet food, dry food, and water all at the same time, all while you're on the go!

Feeding Your Cats at Home

First and foremost, having ceramic or stainless steel bowls to feed your cats from is very important. Not only does this reduce bacteria growth, but it also helps prevent feline acne, which often results from plastic allergies in cats. High-quality ceramic and stainless steel cat food bowls are the best solution!

Also, did you know that by using the same bowls and utensils for pet food as you do your own food, you’re increasing your risk of exposure to bacteria like salmonella? For this reason alone, it’s worth finding options you like that can be dedicated feeders for your cats.

Of course, we can’t forget the added benefit of the decorative aspect of cat food bowls, too. Whether you’re looking for fun and funky patterns or elevated feeding bowls that have modern lines, there are sure to be options that match your décor or personality. Take, for instance, the cat food bowls I use in my home, pictured above. I use them for food and as extra water bowls throughout the house. These are fun, funky animal prints that make me smile! Or, the Yardbirds Junkyard cats below are another option with great personality!

Did you know that by elevating your cat's feeding station, you can significantly reduce the amount of vomiting in your home? When a cat eats from a traditional food bowl that rests on the floor, the esophagus is bent because your cat is bending over while eating. By using an elevated cat feeder, the esophagus can be straightened out, allowing your cat to eat more easily in a more natural position and easing the digestion of his food.

By elevating the food, you can also significantly reduce the mess your cats make when eating. Some cats will pick up food and drop it on the floor, at least in part because it is difficult for them to eat with their heads inside a bowl on the floor. If the bowl is elevated, there’s often less of a mess to clean up after dinner!

Elevated cat feeder options also serve to reduce the number of ants and other bugs that are attracted to your cat's meal. Again, because there is less mess on your floors, you’re less likely to miss a spot of food your cat dropped. Plus, ants have an easier time finding food at the floor-level than climbing up the sides of an elevated cat feeder!

Whether you’re looking for feeding station options that are decorative or functional, the bowls seen here are all capable of meeting both needs! Reduce the mess, reduce the vomiting, reduce exposure to bacteria, and match your home décor or express a bit of your personality with the options seen here!
