Cat Leg Pain

by Heather
(Canada)

QUESTION

My dog was playing with my cat the other day and my dog was standing on his leg and the cat screamed out in pain and now for the last 3 days he's been howling and not bending his one leg at all. He doesn't want to be touched or even be around the other animals. What do you think could be wrong?

Hi Heather,

He certainly could have a fracture. If it hasn't improved significantly by now, he needs to see the vet and possibly have an X-ray.

Never give a cat human pain killers like aspirin, Advil, Tylenol, etc. One tablet can be fatal in a cat. Just wanted to add that in case you didn't know and for the sake of the readers who may not know.

Thank you for writing,
Dr. Neely
