Cat Leg Twitches

Rusty is always waiting for water to run

QUESTION

My cat is a 1 1/2 year old neutered male long haired tabby and when he sleeps his legs twitch all the time more so when he is on his back is this a neuroligical issue or is this normal?

Hi,Lisa,

What you are describing sounds like the typical movements that many cats have when they are dreaming. It doesn't sound like any abnormality. Some cats do it more than others.

I always wonder what they're dreaming about -- perhaps chasing a mouse or leaping into the air after a bug : )

Thank you for the picture!!! He looks adorable.

Thank you for writing,
Dr. Neely
