Cat pregnancy and bleeding

by Savannah
(Murfreesboro, TN)

My cat is pregnant and she is bleeding in her vaginal area. What does this mean?

Dear Savannah,

Without seeing your kitty in person or having a lot more information about her cat health condition, I cannot diagnose what is causing the bleeding you are seeing.

If your cat has been pregnant for approximately 62 days, she could be giving birth or may have just given birth. If it is earlier in her cat pregnancy, she could be aborting/miscarrying. However, feline vaginal bleeding can be indicative of any number of other cat health problems. My best recommendation would be to bring your kitty to a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Best wishes to you and your pregnant cat,
Dr. Neely
