CAT TAPEWORM

QUESTION:
I thought my female cat had a tapeworm at one time and took her to the vet and got the pill to give her. then realized she didnt actually have a tapeworm. after inspecting her and her box for a while. it was just something that was stuck to her bottom.
we moved into an apartment with my mom who has 2 cats and keep in mind none of these cats go outside nor ever had fleas until my cat caught them a few months prior till we moved in with my mother. meanwhile both her cats have fleas and we have taken all the proper precautions to try to get rid of them but her male cat apparently swallowed a flea and got a tape worm.
yesterday we gave him the pill from the vet that was originally for my cat. im thinking now, was that a bad thing since shes a female and he's a male? can that hurt him at all???
ANSWER
No harm. The only problem is if they are very different in weight, he may not have had a large enough dosage. Thank you for writing,
