do male cats return after mating?

by jordan
(windsor, england )

My cat is around 6 to 7 weeks pregnant and is increasing at a fast rate. Sat on my bed I hear a cat calling and see a tom cat on my garage roof. Would I be right in presuming he was her suitor? She showed no interest and continued to sleep but I was just curious to know.

It would be impossible to know if he is the same cat that mated with yours. It is certainly possible. Your kitty would not be interested because she is pregnant. She would only show interest if she were in heat and even then she would be interested in most any male, not just one she had mated with before.

After the kittens are born, be sure and keep them indoors and safe from any other adult cat other than their mom.

Best,
Dr. Neely
