My 6-Month-Old Kitten Pixie

by Francesca James

Pixie.

Pixie.

QUESTION

I have a kitten who is now 6 months old, And have recently found that her bottom lip is slightly swollen, She is eating the same as usual, She has not yet had her vaccinations, But recently went outside as the door was ajar and she escaped..I'm wondering if it could be a bee sting or maybe something worse?

Thank You.

Hi, Francesca,

Swollen lips are most often a condition called Rodent Ulcers, but she is a bit young for that. It also could be, as you suggest, a bug bite or bee sting. If she is eating and drinking and acting fine otherwise, watch it for a few days and see if it goes away.

Thank you for the picture. She is ADORABLE!
