"Scooting" on carpet
by Beryl
(Sugar LAnd, TX)
We have just adopted a female cat and she has started 'scooting' on the carpet. She does not appear to have worms, is not constipated, nor loose in her stools.
Help Please.
"Scooting" in cats is related to (1) having tapeworm or (2) feeling dirty after having a bowel movement and feeling the need to clean the behind or to (3) problems with anal sacs.
You would not necessarily see the worms and a veterinarian must examine the anal sacs and express them to determine if there is an anal sac problem. I would have to recommend a visit to the veterinarian so that you can alleviate your cat's discomfort and treat any underlying condition.
