Very Sick

by Linda Hyde
(Alabama)

QUESTION

My cat has blue gums, is throwing up, has shallow breathing, and brown mucus from rectum. This came on very fast.

Dear Linda

Not to sound harsh or condescending or judgmental, but in the time you took to write me, you should have been rushing to the vet. You describe a seriously ill, possibly dying, cat. Blue gums alone should make you head for the door.

I hope you made it to the vet and things worked out for your kitty. I've included your letter on the website so that others can learn from it.

Sincerely,

Dr. Neely
