Pregnant Cat Hasn't Given Birth After Water Breaking

My pregnant cat lost her water but she didn't give birth

My pregnant cat lost a little bit of water and blood and I thought she was going to give birth but 3 days passed and nothing happened. She seems fine and normal, but I'm worried.

Dear Anas,

Without more information, such as the length of time that your cat has been pregnant, how much water was lost, and how much blood was lost, I could not begin to diagnose or treat your pregnant cat over the internet. What I can say, though, is that I would be very worried too.

Any number of things can go wrong during a cat pregnancy, including the possibility that the pregnant cat's kittens can die and stay inside the mother. The only advice I can give you is to bring your cat to a veterinarian as soon as possible, as her condition could be quite serious.

Regards,
Dr. Neely

My pregnant cat didn't give birth to her kittens

Yesterday, my pregnant cat lost a little bit of blood again, but she didn't give birth and the dead kittens didn't came out. What will the veterinarian do or give her? Please explain. Is she going to be okay? I love her so much!

Dear Anas,

I didn't say that your pregnant cat's kittens had died and stayed inside her, but mentioned it as a dangerous possibility of your cat's condition. Please, run to the veterinarian as soon as possible.

As I said originally, without knowing how much blood she has lost, how far along she is, or examining her physically, there is nothing that can be done over the internet. The kittens may still be alive, the veterinarian may be able to induce her labor and help her give birth, or any number of other possibilities.

But, in any event, your pregnant cat needs immediate veterinary care.

All the best,
Dr. Neely
