My kitten is 3 1/2 months old and we recently took her to get her second set of shots. We noticed she was very lethargic after the shots were done and yesterday she started constantly licking her private region and stayed in her cat house most of the day.

This morning, when I looked at the area, I found that her anus is very swollen and red and her vagina is also looking red/bloody and swollen. My kitten drags her butt on the ground and she will not go longer than a few minutes without licking the area. I don't know what to do but I know I don't have money for the vet.


Dear Sarah,

You absolutely need to bring your kitten to the veterinarian. What you described may or may not have anything to do with the vaccines your cat was given, but your cat’s symptoms indicate that there is a serious problem going on. It may be easily treated, but your kitten needs immediate veterinary attention.
